Konnichiwa!

I have arrived in Japan! I met the two other principals I will be traveling with (Matt and Joe) and Miki, our representative from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Chicago, in the airport and we checked into ANA airlines this morning with plenty of time to spend in the business lounge before boarding. The flight went smoothly, as we were spoiled with sleeper seats, so I was able to sleep well, read, and watch some movies. I also enjoyed my first Japanese meal- the food and drinks just kept coming!

After arriving in Tokyo and exchanging money to Japanese Yen, we are waiting to board a domestic flight to Sendai.
Japanese Money is called Yen
Sendai is the largest city in the Tohoku region of Japan, and the capital of the Miyagi prefecture. The Tohoku region is the area of Japan that was most affected by last March’s earthquake and tsunami. Entire towns in the countryside along the coast completely washed away as a result of the tsunami, which had waves as big as 100 ft. tall.
